It’s Fall Y’all!
Fall is fast approaching and brings upon us a time of change. We are starting to see the leaves change on trees and bushes here in the Midwest of North America. This season brings many exciting and magnificent things that we always look forward to through the fall months.
To help my family and I enjoy this season of pumpkin spice and everything nice, we have composed a fall bucket list of activities. This fun, family-oriented and budget-friendly bucket list for the fall season can be enjoyed by anyone. We invite you and your family to enjoy completing these fall harvest activities. At the end of the month, we would love to hear about the activities you and your family participated in!
The Ultimate Budget-Friendly Fall Bucket List
- Attend A Football Game – There are many ways to attend a local football game on a budget. The whole family can share their team spirit whether you are at a high school, college or professional football game. We found some great resources to help your family save money at your next football game outing.
- Sit around a bonfire – There is nothing quite like sitting around an evening fire on a brisk fall night. We love roasting marshmallow with friends and family and a fall cocktail here and there. What is your favorite way to enjoy a bonfire?
- Host A Chili Cook-off – Practice your best chili recipe by hosting a chili cook-off among family and friends or in the workplace. Turn up the heat by having everyone vote for their favorite. The winner gets bragging rights for the year.
- Navigate A Corn Maze – Have you ever gotten lost in a corn maze? This favorite pastime has never seemed to disappoint our small community. Every year we look forward to the designs our local farmers choose for their corn mazes. Are you interested in finding a corn maze to visit and master? Check out this America Corn Maze Directory.
- Create fall-themed Arts & Crafts – Pinterest has so many great ideas on fall-themed crafts to do with the whole family. Here are a few that we are looking forward to making this season:
- Visit An Apple Orchard – The possibilities are endless on how to use freshly picked apples. Make caramel apples or apple cider or even use your favorite apple pie recipe. Whichever you choose, it will surely warm you up on those chilly mornings, days or nights. Need some inspiration? Check out Country Living’s top apple picking farms to visit!
- Go on a Nature Walk/Hike – Whether you have fall foliage or a light dusting of winter snow, consuming fresh air during a nature walk or hike with the family can do good things for the mind, body, and spirit.
- Enjoy a Halloween Movie Marathon – Cozy up on the couch and enjoy a family-friendly Halloween movie night. These are some of our favorite family-friendly Halloween themed movies we look forward to each year.
- Rake Leaves and then play in them – Take the chore out of raking the leaves and think about how much fun it is to jump into that colorful pile. Make Fall Angels with your littles and then let them help you rake it all up again!
- Decorate for the Fall Season – There are so many ways to decorate your spaces with fall décor while living on a budget. You can choose the DIY options or you can raid the Dollar Stores. Pinterest offers so many great ideas and tips on how to stretch your dollar and decorate for the season. Some of our favorites are:
- Get Family Holiday Pictures Taken – If you haven’t already, Fall is a great time to get those updated family pictures. Many photographers offer mini-sessions that are great for your budget and time management. If you are considering using these pictures as part of your Holiday card, now is the time to get those pictures scheduled.

- Read Fall Themed Books – We love reading books that are geared towards the current season or holiday. A few of our favorite Fall-themed books to read to our girls are:
- Visit A Pumpkin Patch – Every year our family has made the tradition of spending half a day going to pick pumpkins and then partaking in our annual carving/decorating contest. It has been a great bonding experience for the whole family. We highly recommend going to a local pumpkin patch this month! Do you need help finding a pumpkin farm near you? Country Living can help you find the best and closest pumpkin farm!
- Attend a Fall Harvest Festival – Do you love everything fall? There is nothing better than attending a local fall and harvest festival so that you can experience everything the autumn season has to bring us. Whether you stay local or take the family on a weekend getaway these fall festivals are guaranteed not to disappoint!
- Take A Fall Tour – This time of year is always a beautiful sight as the leaves began to change colors. We love going on adventures through Nature and witnessing Autumn leaves first hand. These adventures can be on foot, in a car, on a train or even on a plane. Take a budget-friendly weekend getaway and experience Fall in different locations.
- Visit A Haunted House – Enjoy some spooktacular fun without the nightmares and gore. Have the family dress up and take a night to experience all things Halloween. These family-friendly haunted houses are sure to bring frightening fun to everyone.
- Go On A Hayride – Some of my favorite memories are of hayrides with friends and family. There is just something special about the smell of hay and the sound of a tracker pulling you around. Our family can not wait to try out some of these top hayrides across the country in the future.
