About The Founder
Hi, I am Cassandra, the founder of Her Thriving Journey. Established in 2024, our mission is to empower women to ignite their inner power and transform their life from just surviving into one they can thrive in. With a passion for personal development, I am dedicated to helping resilient and ambitious women gain tools and resources that help them break through their generational patterns and begin writing a new story.
I am a proud mom of four amazing children-two girls and two boys – whose growth and well-being inspire me daily. Balancing motherhood and my professional ambitions has shaped me profoundly, driving my commitment to creating a supportive and empowering environment for legacy building women.
Growing up, my life was marked by the challenges of living with alcoholism, gambling addiction, and domestic violence. Frequent moves and family instability were common until the age of 10. When I was 11, my father moved out of state, and I began to take on more responsibilities in taking care of my younger sister. A couple years later into my late childhood, we settled into my great grandparents family home and I became part of a blended family of 7 throughout the year.
Despite these obstacles, my life was also filled with beautiful moments. These experiences opened up opportunities to explore new places and meet new people, greatly contributing to my skills of adaptability and enthusiasm for creative activities, people focused services and traveling. My mother blessed us with the space to be creative, to experiment and to explore the spaces around us. The balance of these things allowed me to stay focused on my studies, participating in sports and clubs of interest and gaining employment at the earliest age possible. All things that built my inner resilience and determination.
Would it be a coincidence that these were all skills that I would need as I moved into young adulthood, navigating a larger world while pursuing higher education and later on navigating motherhood, health and professional development?
Today I hold a Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology and a Master of Science in Administration. Both earned through perseverance while juggling multiple part time jobs and raising my oldest daughter. My journey through higher education was non-traditional and challenging, but it further instilled in me the resilience, determination and empathy that I bring to my work today. Currently, I hold a management position in a nonprofit organization, where I strive to create stability and growth for my family and community.
My experiences with generational challenges and personal struggles have fueled my desire to help others navigate their paths. I understand the struggles of managing life’s unexpected curveballs, such as economic recessions, job loss, family transitions, loss and grief, and pandemics while pregnant. This understanding drives my mission with Her Thriving Journey to empower women to overcome obstacles with grace and compassion and achieve their goals in personal finance, relationships, wellness, and career & business.
Throughout my life, I have faced and overcome difficult circumstances in each of these areas often leaving me with negative thought patterns, poor coping mechanisms and toxic relationships. I had to find the inner will power and advocate for myself to leave these unhealthy situations, which eventually moved me to conquering personal struggles with smoking and drinking. I was able to quit smoking cold turkey in 2013, after experiencing the death of my biological father and uncle and beginning my career in nonprofit which all marked significant turning points for me. These events propelled me forward much faster towards self-discovery, healing, and transforming the wounded stories of my inner child. And while I have changed so much over the years, my story isn’t over yet.
I believe in the power of positive change and the impact of nurturing a loving and supportive atmosphere. Inspired by Mahatma Gandhi’s words, “You must be the change you wish to see in the world,” I aim to create a world where women and future generations can thrive in love, peace, hope, faith, and kindness.
